Read and Feed will be supporting a Back to School free health assessment and vaccination event hosted by UNC School of Nursing Mobile Health Clinic, Alliance Healthcare, and the Wake County Health Department with a booth book distribution! Children who attend will receive the assessment and vaccinations required in order to attend school, enjoy fun activities, and visit with other vendors. 

This is a fun and easy way to help students and their families select diverse books to improve reading skills and add to their home libraries. That's right, they get to keep all the books they chose!

Assist with unloading boxes, setting up tables, and helping students select books. This event lasts from 9am-3pm, if interested in volunteering for the whole day feel free to register for both shifts. The event will be held at Roberts Park Community Center.

Volunteers will first pick up coolers from the Read and Feed Office (171-10 High House Rd, Cary, NC 27511) and then pick up bagged, flash frozen, or hot meals from Inter-Faith Food Shuttle Warehouse (1001 Blair Drive, Raleigh, NC 27609) between 1:00 PM-2:30 PM. Volunteers will then deliver the meals to the Read and Feed Office.

Help us tutor elementary school students to improve their literacy skills this school year!

As a reading tutor, you will work one on one or in small groups with K-5 students. Our tutors make a BIG difference in the lives of our students. No prior teaching experience is required to be a tutor, only a willingness to give kids an appetite for reading!

Tutoring is a 75-90 minute, once a week commitment. We ask that tutors commit to attending at least 80% of our available shifts.
